Burner GUI asks for administrator credentials
Last Updated 9 years ago

When the Burner GUI is executed as a regular non-admin user, it may ask for administrator credentials. This is due to the way the Burner GUI was developed. To be able to access the Burner GUI as a regular user there are two possibilities:

-> Use BurnerWeb (no admin user needed and can be accessed from any PC)

-> Use the following procedure to create a shortcut that can be used to launch the Burner with saved credentials:

First enable the root "administrator" account of Windows 10, since that account is needed to execute the shortcut. It's not sufficient to be part of the administrators group.

1. Create a normal shortcut to application.exe on the desktop.
2. Right-click the shortcut and select Properties.
3. In the Target box, insert the following (replace ComputerName and Username by the correct info (user = "administrator"):
runas /user:ComputerName\Username /savecred "C:\Program Files (x86)\Perennity\Perennity Dicom\Dicom Burner\Client\bin\DicomBurner.exe""
4. Double-click the new short-cut, and enter the administrator password.

Doing this will prompt you to enter in admin credentials once and once they are entered they get stored in Windows Credential manager and do not have to be entered again. The application will run elevated each time.
