Performing a Perennity DICOM database backup (MariaDB, MySQL)
Last Updated 9 years ago

We strongly recommend you perform regular database backups (so called dumps), especially in version 5 where configuration settings are stored in the database. Also in those cases where Perennity DICOM is used as an archive (mini PACS), you should certainly schedule such backups.

There are several methods to backup a MariaDB/MySQL database, from command line tools to a variety of GUI tools.

Command line: you can use the attached batch file Backup_Perennity_DB.bat, which includes instructions (open with e.g. Notepad).

GUI tools: there are a number of free graphical tools available that allow you to backup the database; here are some examples.
- MySQL Administrator (from MySQL GUI Tools): https://downloads.mysql.com/archives/gui/
- MySQL Workbench: https://www.mysql.com/products/workbench/
- SQLBackupAndFTP Free: https://sqlbackupandftp.com/mysql-backup
- HeidiSQL: https://www.heidisql.com/
